Eating out
Suffolk is termed the ‘bread basket of England’ and is therefore a great place for food and drink, with plenty of options right on our doorstep. We have a fantastic range of places to try during your visit, from our cosy local pub just a 5 minute stroll away, to award winning Gastro cuisine slightly further afield.
In the heart of the Suffolk landscape
Wildlands is located in the heart of the gently undulating Suffolk landscape, characterised by small fields, river pastures, high hedges and old woodlands. Passing through ancient villages with timber-framed cottages, thatched roofs and medieval flint churches, you can feel like you’ve stepped back in time a hundred years. Just 10 minutes away is the beautiful old market town of Framlingham, where you can visit English Heritage Framlingham Castle made famous by Ed Sheeran’s ‘Castle on the Hill’, or in the other direction, Helmingham Hall, the country’s most perfectly-preserved Tudor moated-mansion, where they have pulled up the drawbridge every night for more than 500 years! Easton Farm Park is also just a few minutes away, for a charming and fun day out with the kids.
Suffolk coast and heaths
The nearby town of Woodbridge, offers a wealth of visitor attractions along the quayside, including one of the countries’ few working tide mills, Riverside Cinema, outstanding bars, cafes and restaurants and unique independent shops. Woodbridge is also the gateway to the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is home to a host of attractions, from the wild and varied natural landscape, to Sutton Hoo, the Saxon burial site featured in the movie ‘The Dig’, and the exquisite seaside town of Aldeburgh.
Snape Maltings and Minsmere
Also nearby is Snape Maltings, converted from the original Victorian industrial buildings on the edge of the river Alde estuary, with galleries, shops, eateries and several performance venues, including the world-famous Snape Maltings Concert Hall. And just up the coast is RSPB Minsmere, one of the most important wildlife sites in the country, where you can watch bearded tits, avocets, marsh harriers and bitterns.
